2009 TVB Anniversary Awards: Fashion Flair or Fashion Faux Pas?

At the recent 2009 TVB Anniversary Awards, all eyes were on how the underdog Rosy Business would stack up against anniversary powerhouse Beyond the Realm of Conscience.

However, besides the gold statuettes distributed that night let’s not forget to also take a look at who else earned gold stars for their style.

Here in this fashion feature, we have five categories. First, The Honourable Mentions who all came out in their A-game, ready to razzle and dazzle up the Awards with their clever fashion choices. Then we have the Neither Here Nor Theres who aimed high but ended up falling somewhere in the middle of the crowd, vowing to do much better next year. Then, coming in after that part of the pack, are the The I'm-Not-Gonna-Win-So-This-Is-Really-Boring group. They didn't think they'd get any recognition this year but as to not offend TVB, attendance was compulsory. Hence, they just threw on something they had and showed up. Next, there's the OTT Award winners; they just don't seem to get that less is more. And last but not least, we have the very special Heidi Montag award. Heidi Montag, for those of you who aren't familiar with the name, is an American reality TV star who seemingly does a lot for attention. You get my drift.

Let’s get the ball rolling!

The Honourable Mentions

Tavia Yeung

My favourite dress of the night has to be what Tavia wore. The design and fit is absolutely perfect. The various shades of lovely blue in layers of chiffon gracefully panned out around her when she walked. I adore the tube bodice with the embedded silver bits, just to throw in a little more glamour to the otherwise ethereal Grecian-like dress. The dress (coupled with the elation she was undoubtedly feeling that night) made her look so radiant. I would love to own something like this. A brilliant fashion choice.

[2009.12.31] New Years Countdown with Raymond Lam and Niki Chow

After reading Audrey and Flo's reports I felt inspired to finish my own! I started this once I got home that night but never got around to finish it....!! So here is my ridiculously long report:

31 December 2009 – New Years Eve Countdown at Ponte 16, Macau with Raymond Lam and Niki Chow

I've uploaded some of the better photos onto Facebook:
http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=185969&id=159451205691

You can also find 3 videos here:
http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=967300B180D7FA9E

A coupe of friends and I originally booked the 4pm Turbojet to Macau but on the way there, I realised I forgot to bring my passport and HK ID card!!!! So stupid of me. Since I took a small handbag for convenience, I must've forgot those things while packing, so I had to go back home to get them. I thought for sure I wouldn't make it, but when I arrived at around 3:58pm... I still got on! There were quite a few other ppl as late as I was too... which was lucky for me.

So we finally arrived in Macau at around 5pm. I guess because it's New Year's Eve, there were many people arriving so the queue at Immigration was crazily long. The wait was almost an hour!!

As I was also going to pick up the Macau concert tickets, I took the shuttle bus to The Venetian. They showed the ad for the concert a few times on the bus too! Anyway, after getting a little lost at The Venetian, I took a taxi to Ponte 16, which was a fair way away, judging from the taxi fare.... and finally got there at around 7:15pm???

Even though the function was scheduled to start at 9pm, a few fans from FF (FungForever – Raymond's official fanclub) were already there, but the area was mostly empty so I went to buy some food since I hadn't eaten much the whole day. As 9pm gets closer more ppl arrived. I couldn't see that far behind since there're a lot of ppl surrounding us but the area wasn't very big so a lot ppl stood on the side and also across the road. Luckily we got there early so we were directly in front of the stage! (But separated by a few rows for VIPs and a security barrier!) There were about 11/12 FF members there, but a couple of girls next to me also liked Raymond so we all screamed together!

The hosts for tonight were Carlo Ng and Paisley Wu (she's the host of JSG). The show started around 15 minutes late and first up Carlo sang! I haven't watched his latest series (A chip off the old block) so I don't know what song he was singing. Unfortunately he didn't sing very well. The other host also sang 2 songs too, and if I remember correctly, she was a singer before so she was quite good.

There was also a Peking Opera / Hip Hop performance, before the first "headline" guest, Rosanne Lui came out. She sang some songs (didn't know them!) including a Thai one, but I guess the most popular one was the Beyond medley, since a lot of people knew the lyrics to those songs.

After Rosanne sang, they played games with the audience. They would play a short snippet of music and the audience would have to guess the song. Since they only played about 2-3 seconds of each song, some were really hard to guess!! Carlo went down the stage to the barrier area to interact with the audience and also gave out the prizes. After a few songs, they played a short snippet of an English song which I guess not many ppl knew what it was.... so I put my hand up and got it right!!! LOL!!! The song was "YMCA". Now I have a Rosanne DVD...! At least my mum would appreciate it. :P

The next guest was Niki Chow... and she sang "Guess the lantern riddle" and "Floating softly". She wore a spaghetti strap jumpsuit so it was rather cold for her!! But she was as pretty as she's on screen. :) The hosts asked her whether she needed a jacket but Niki insisted it was ok because she wanted to look her best in that outfit! LOL.

After she sang she picked some audience members to go up on stage to play games too. The game was similar to one from "Super Trio" where there is a balloon which keeps on inflating, while holding the balloon each person has to give an answer to the selected topic. If the balloon bursts then that person loses.

Even though Niki is one of my favourite actresses after many hours of standing we were anxious to see Raymond. But after Niki left the stage there was also a Michael Jackson performance. But during this performance we could spot Raymond on the side of the stage getting ready and even dancing a little to the MJ songs! Suddenly the 4 hours we spent standing and waiting were forgotten!

As expected Raymond came out last among the guests. By now, it was already past 11pm! He sang three songs - "Love to search for you in memories", "If the time has arrived" and of course "Love with no regrets"! Since he is the most popular guest of the evening, people behind us started pushing towards the front which made things kinda crazy! Especially when he came down to shake hands! I had tried to record a video but the combination of tired arms, people screaming and pushing... the video turned out VERY shaky, not recommended if your stomach gets upset easily!

After the songs Raymond played games with the audience too. A couple of FF members got picked and the game true or false. If a statement is true, the fans should stand next to Raymond. But if you think the statement is false, you should stand next to Carlo. Of course everyone wanted to stand alongside Raymond!! lol.

The game did go on for a little while and finally all the guests came back on stage for a proper countdown! After they opened up the champagne the event drew to a close.

Even though we pretty much stood there for 5 hours it was such a good night! Surprisingly, all of the performances were enjoyable so the time passed by pretty quickly. Since we also cheered and made noise for the other performers the hosts mentioned us Raymond fans a few times and hopefully our cheering created a better atmosphere!!!

After the event most of the Raymond fans headed straight to the ferry terminal, to try to catch Raymond on his way back to HK. Since we had to return to HK on the same night also, we made our way there too. Unfortunately everyone else is also leaving at the same time so it was almost impossible to get a taxi! We had to keep walking along the main road for at least half an hour before we finally got a taxi!! At the ferry terminal, we met with other fans who were also waiting for Raymond as well. I guess we were lucky that night because less than 5 mins after we arrived at the terminal, Raymond arrived as well! He was in a hurry though, to catch the 1am ferry so he didn't really stop for autographs or photos etc.

Our return ticket was originally scheduled for the 1:30am ferry but fortunately we could catch the earlier one so we ended up on the same ferry back as Raymond :) Of course he was seated in VIP so we didn't see him during the trip! During our journey back we were all so tired but thought we should try our luck and see if we can get his autograph or photo once we arrive in HK.

Since the VIPs disembark the ferry first we had to catch up fairly quickly. My friend was very fast so she managed to catch the same escalator as Raymond and his assistant. Another fan and I were a little further behind. As a little side note though, I spotted one of the guys from Soler (don't know which one though!!!) on the escalator behind me! He was holding a guitar so I'm fairly sure I was seeing things correctly. [would've loved a photo with him too looool, but alas, needed to concentrate
on someone else....]

My friend was lucky enough to have a short chat with him before they arrived at immigration but I guess it wasn't a good place he didn't sign or take photos. It was quite a weird experience as I ended up directly behind him at the e-tunnel gate where you had to insert the ID card, do the fingerprint thing to pass through the gate! I feel like such a stalker!! Eventually another HK fan and I saw him as he was leaving and managed to say "Happy new year" to him. (Actually, I didn't really talk since I was so starstruck!! LOOL) He told us to be careful and don't stay out too late!

How to Make Glutinous Rice Balls with Ginger Soup

The Glutinous Rice Ball (a.k.a 湯圓 Tong Yuen/Tang Yuan) is one of the many delicacies in the Eastern cuisine... especially eaten during Chinese festivals like Chinese New Year, Chap Goh Meh (final day of CNY) and the Lantern Festival. But of course, anyone from any race/religion/culture can make/eat this wonderful dessert!

You might have seen them frozen-packed in supermarkets. You only need to bring it home, boil them and POOF! You've got yourself a sweet dessert.

Curious about how they make it? Well I don't know how the factories make it, but I am going to post how it is made, TRADITIONALLY and HOMEMADE. And I heard they taste better than the instant ones. No preservatives, no colourings. Just good ol' flour, palm sugar etc...

DISCLAIMER: These glutinous rice balls have a palm sugar filling, and not black sesame or read bean. Well, it's the same methods though, just replace the palm sugar with whatever filling you want.

Ingredients:

500 grams of glutinous rice flour (I don't think other flours can be used).
Palm sugar (If possible, get the big solid ones cause we're going to crush it. The fine palm sugar in packets are going to be very tedious).
Water (Depends on how soft you want the dough to become).
3 Pandan leaves (If you want your rice ball to taste like pandan, then get 2 more. So you need 5).
Ginger (Just a small one will do)

Method:

STEP 1

1. Firstly, put the glutinous rice flour in a very large bowl/plate.

STEP 2

Add water and knead the dough (Knead if half-way if you are following step 3.
If not, knead it completely and continue on to step 4).

STEP 3
OPTIONAL STEP: ONLY FOR THOSE WHO WANT THEIR RICE BALL GREEN OR TO TASTE LIKE PANDAN.

Cut your pandan leaves into 4 cm (Doesn't need to be exactly 4cm. As long as they fit the blender/stone pounder). After that, put them in a blender or a stone pounder (I used a stone pounder) and blend/stone them until almost pulverized.

Scoop it up and put in into a bowl (Ignore the plate in the picture :P). Add around 150ml of water and mix them.

We only want the green juice, so strain it using a fine strainer.

Pour the juice in the dough (which you left aside) and knead till dough is smooth and a bit elastic. Make sure it's not too dry or wet because it will be very hard for you to put the palm sugar in.

Leave your dough aside.

STEP 4

Crush your palm sugar into small crystals.

STEP 5

Boil a big pot of water (depends on how much ginger soup you want). Smash the ginger lightly with a spoon or knife (So that the juice comes out).

Add the pandan leaves (the uncut ones), a small ginger and a medium-sized block of palm sugar. Normal fine sugar is fine as well.

STEP 6

Time to make the rice balls :)

Bring back the dough! Pinch a bit of it (the size is up to you) and roll it into a ball. Then, just use one finger to push the center of the ball. So now, there is a hole in the center. Put a palm sugar crystal in it (not too big, if not it will burst). Close the hole and roll once more.

You can make it into any shape or size you want!
Personal: The first time I did this, it was a bit hard because I didn't know how to close the ball without displacing the palm sugar crystal.

STEP 7

Boil another pot of water. Put in your uncooked rice balls and let it boil. You can see it's cooked when the rice balls float to the top.

Then transfer the cooked rice balls into the ginger soup.
And IT'S READY TO BE EATEN!!

It is best served hot by the way.

Sorry for the low-quality pictures. I need to get a new camera >.<
Sorry if I explained it badly!
If you have any questions, feel free to ask! I'll try my best to answer.
Enjoy making~

[2010.01.30] My encounter with Moses

This is a really short post, because frankly, there's nothing to write! It's been my second time meeting Moses in person and let me say, he's really a 師奶殺手! The aunties were screaming for him once he came on stage. Woah... let me backup a little and begin on my boring pre-Moses journey.

By the way, Sonija, Steven and Nancy was supposed to appear too! But...........read my article to find out what happened. Sighs.

My arrival at a very empty Plaza Singapura

It was....dismal. My friend and I had overestimated the time and we arrived at the venue at 10am when the event was supposed to start at 2.30pm! The Starhub booth was still being set up and while walking around recee-ing the place, I heard the overall I/C telling the temporary staff to 'concentrate while the TVB artistes were performing'!

I happened to take a sneak peek into the brochures and pamphlets that the staff were giving out, and from where I was standing, it looked as if Moses, Charmaine, Nancy and Steven were going to appear. Naturally, my friend who's a Charmaine fan was super excited, but alas, it was not to be the case. In actual fact, when I walked closer later on, I found out that the picture was actually Sonija instead of Charmaine!

Moral of the story: TVB should update their artistes' profile pictures that does not have two artistes in the same position (i.e. lying down sideways)

Anyway, my friend and I decided to head to Starbucks to do our assignment while waiting for the event to start.

At the venue waiting for the event to start

We went back to the venue about 1.30pm, and to our dismay, there were quite a few people there already! There was a singing karaoke contest ongoing on stage and people had gathered there to watch. Undeterred, we 'shuffled' our way through and landed ourselves on the 2nd row! Not bad eh?

Throughout the singing competition, the host kept announcing that the TVB artistes were about to come. Whenever Moses's name was mentioned, the crowd would scream the loudest! Steven's screams came up a close second, while Nancy and Sonija's screams were a distant third.

Let the event begin!

I actually waited for 45 minutes before the TVB artistes arrived! The host was saying that they went to eat dessert nearby and thus were late. Boy, we were kept on our toes waiting. Not to mention, I had to rush off to class which would be starting at 3.30pm! Which is why, I failed to snap and see Sonija, Steven and Nancy. What a wasted chance!

Finally, the artistes came, and everyone started shoving in their way through just so that they can get to see their favorite artistes. Moses came out first and introduced himself. By then, I was feeling really claustrophobic because everyone just squeezed towards the stage hoping to get a better glimpse of him.

He started by talking about the Starhub TVB awards that was held the night before, where he won Most Favorite Male Character award and thanked Starhub for giving him this chance to accept this award. He also talked about filming [Heaven and Earth] and announced that filming for that show was over, and that he was about to continue filming [Here Comes The Princess].

This being an event that happened over a week ago, I kind of forgot what he said fully. However, Moses being Moses, reiterated the fact that coffee is a must for him everyday and said no matter what, 'still must drink coffee!'

He started introducing the song he was about to sing, and a very sweet thing happened! When the host was talking, he looked over in my direction and smiled that charming smile of his! Oh my, I almost melted on the spot. Haha!

So while singing the song, Moses actually came downstage, and that's when all the pandemonium started. We started rushing to the front to shake his hands, and I'm very proud to say that I've managed to shake his hand! Gosh, his hands are big and firm! Some fans didn't even want to let go of his hand at all! But I had to, because I had to take photos of him. So, I got my other friend to video down his performance.

Beware: it's shaky because there were simply too many people! And you'll probably hear loads of screamings.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-xSvF3V7_I

To say that Moses worked the crowd is an understatement. He rocked the whole of Plaza Singapura down!

I know this is a really abrupt ending, but I had to leave immediately after Moses sang his song! When I managed to get out of the crowd, Steven came on stage, but I didn't manage to take any photos of him.

It's definitely no wonder why Moses is such a hit in Singapore. He's handsome enough to be idolized by youths and charming enough to knock the socks out of the older generation people. I would have to say he's definitely one of the more versatile actors in this generation who can appeal to both the young and old.

Once again, sorry for such an ending. I promise to stay throughout for the next event! Now, let me pray that it hits 5 votes (:

TVB Central's First Writing Challenge: Results

The Challenge: Write a short story that entails both romance and mystery. The primary scene must take place at a bus station. The lead character is a female going home from work. As she steps off her bus, her scarf got caught by the wind and landed on the ground a few feet away. While retrieving her scarf, she noticed a small piece of fortune cookie paper that reads: "Judge not by appearance, but by character." Upon looking up, she saw a gentleman in professional attire and suitcase holding onto a boy of approximately 7-year-old. In contrast, the boy was dressed in rags and covered in dirt. Tell a tale of how these three characters interact as our female lead follows the advice of her fortune.

The Criteria: Originality. Unique writing style. Clarity of thought. Proper grammar.

Five contestants entered the writing challenge and were determined to see the finish line before midnight of March 2nd, 2010. Despite the little time afforded, the entries excel in originality and am in awe with everyone's effort. The deadline dawned upon us before we know it. Vivien puts it best when she stated that she has "never felt this rushed even in school." Indeed, the challenge pushed everyone to strive for a goal that perhaps I myself would have given up on. But our five participants persevered. Of notable mentions are krystal and TVBInteraction who composed their very first fanfictions for the challenge. And let me tell you, my very first fanfic pales in comparison. In fact, it's a memory I'd rather bury. You know, the better forgotten past, to quote krystal. ;)

"Timely Connections", written by krystal, explores the themes of betrayal, acceptance and forgiveness within the past, present and future. The complexity of her plot definitely requires more than a mere three days to execute and am happy to know krystal will re-visit this fiction to further develop it. The story already has a very solid outline with an intriguing beginning and conclusion. And as an avid reader, I'd love to know more of: (1) the bond between Tavia and Sheren during their poorer days and the care that Sheren showered Tavia with, (2) Sheren's reaction and subsequent forgiveness when she was informed of Tavia's betrayal and (3) the romantic relationship that forms between Tavia and Kevin and how he changed her materialistic ways. But even without a further exploration of the three subplots I highlighted above, krystal's 3-day work already exceeds one's expectation for a fanfic writer's debut. ;)

"Deceiving Assumptions", written by TVBInteraction, tells a tale of strong-headed Macy who steered clear from men. But one day, her 'single principle' was unknowingly challenged by Him Law. Him, despite developing a crush on Macy during their college days, never got the guts to tell her. Macy, who never once noticed him in college, thought her new colleague's a rascal just like the other men she interacted with. But through their work rapport, Macy realized she must acknowledge the exception to the rule. In the (promised) revision, I hope to see more of Macy's interactions with Him and how he managed to shake her firm belief. Furthermore, the story's synopsis asked "what will happen next" when Macy falls for Him. Indeed, readers are awaiting answers. ;) Again, a greatly commendable first effort and I hope your pen will never stop writing, Iris. :)

Perhaps the only entry that truly delved into the Mystery genre, Vivien wrote "Valentino" with an unexpected twist. [Can I afford a little aside? I love the names Colette and Alexia! *TkN quickly adds to her list of potential baby names list*] My only recommendation for her planned lengthier version of the fiction is to explore the character Valentino and give him layers. Of course, I enjoyed the mysterious air that Valentino carries with his little words and unexplained actions. However, he seems to have taken the backseat and let Colette drive the story forward despite the fiction being named after him. The intriguing introduction defined the name Valentino as one with determination and hinted love. Regrettably, both defining characteristics were not thoroughly explored. I can sense his determination, but it lacks a strong motive. I was never certain who he was in love with. These are two areas in which I hope can come to light in the long version. But for a day's work, this is stunning. I greatly appreciate the engrossing plot and circular narrative that nicely concludes the story.

A very fitting paradoxical title! "Advancing Backwards", by flo, explores the themes of change as Nathan struggles with self-improvement and adaptation when Hayley realizes she has lacunar amnesia. Bonded by a seven-year-old, the two embarked on a journey of self-discovery. flo did a wonderful job with describing settings and actions. The tangible tension she created between Hayley and Nathan so intense that I found myself drawing bated breaths when the scene closes. I strongly encourage flo to continue this fiction as it concludes with many questions left unanswered. I felt teased. :P Lead readers into the memories that Hayley slowly recovers. Let readers become more acquainted with Nathan as Hayley further interacts with him. Paint for us the future they will have as they deal with their darker past and the concept of parenthood. As Nathan spoke, "Consider it." No, demand! I want to read more! :D Again, a job very well done! A wonderful balance between intensity and light-heartedness (re: Tessa).

I have never before fallen in love with a character that was introduced to me in a mere twelve pages. But I have now. Not for his mysterious aura, expressive eyes, or expensive suit. But for the wit, sensibility, and kindness he exemplifies. And let's not forget our feisty and righteous heroine who is equally kind. Portraying such charming characters with so few words is no easy task. But someday, glazed-over will get things right. Well, that someday is today! glazed-over's simple yet effective short fiction wins this challenge. Her incorporation of the challenge's requirements and themes seemed effortless, and with added humor. The motto "judge not by appearance, but by character" was beautifully intertwined throughout the narration. glazed-over also has a strong command for English and her descriptors poignant, persuasive. The scope of her plot carefully planned and thoroughly explored, despite the short time she was allowed to work on her story. My heart, soul, and mind unequivocally recommend this fiction! In fact, check out other works from glazed-over at http://tvbcentral.net/fanfic/viewuser.php?action=storiesby&uid=9

My sincere gratitude, once more, to everyone who participated in the challenge! Your hard work was incredibly inspiring. Your determination held me speechless. And I hope this spirit never fades, as our second challenge will be issued soon-ish, to quote glazed-over. :) Indeed, our challenge winner will be in charge of hosting the next challenge. Keep an eye out for it! :)

Cupid Stupid Episode Four

Twinkle (Tavia Yeung), who has pimples on her face, eats breakfast at a restaurant with Yat Bo (Steven Ma). She thinks of the time she swore to Mei Guen (Shermon Tang) and feels nervous. She avoids Mei Guen when she enters the restaurant, hoping that she wouldn't be able to see the pimples on her face and of course, think about the vow she made.

Jeff (Michael Tse) and Twinkle, after seeing the office ladies' reaction when they receive their horoscope readings, are inspired to create a portable horoscope reading machine called “Love Astrology No.”. The two spend the night doing the proposal and presents it to their colleagues the next morning. Everyone likes the idea. Jeff is determined to find the 'Princess of Astrology' to help them write readings.

Mei Guen and Twinkle meet outside of Twinkle's apartment. At the same time, Yat Bo brought a drink that helps get rid of pimples. Mei Guen finds out that Twinkle has pimples on her face. Twinkle says that she has pimples because she has been working overtime and of the lack of sleep. Mei Guen is angry and leaves. Twinkle is also upset, takes the drink Yat Bo offered and goes back home, leaving Yat Bo confused.

Twinkle and Jeff are waiting for the 'Princess of Astrology' to arrive. Greeny (Rams Tseung), who's curious, decides to tag along. 'Princess of Astrology' sent Editor Chu to tell them that she refuses to meet them face to face. The two decided to follow Editor Chu, in hopes of seeing the 'Princess of Astrology'. They find out that she is actually an old lady and is disappointed. However, Twinkle, after reading the books the 'Princess of Astrology' has written, discovers that the 'Princess of Astrology' is supposed to be around 40 years of age.

Jeff decides to keep trying, completely forgetting his date with Anna (Mandy Cho). Anna is disappointed and meets Greeny. He gave her flowers and cheers her up a little. Jeff follows the elderly woman and is shocked when he sees Greeny. It is revealed that Greeny is the 'Princess of Astrology' and that the old woman is his mom. The episode ends with Greeny reminding Jeff that it is Anna's birthday.

Cupid Stupid Episode 6-20 (END)

Twinkle (Tavia Yeung) asked Yat Bo (Steven Ma) if they have a chance of going out together as a couple. Yat Bo told her that it's impossible and walked out onto the floating platform. It turns out that Yat Bo was referring to his dad, Gam Gwai (Lau Dan), who asked him, at the same time, if it was possible to buy the fish stall from Wong (Law Lok Lam). Twinkle is upset and embarrassed. She then decided to remain as friends.

Anna (Mandy Cho) and Jeff's (Michael Tse) relationship is on thin ice. Anna has become a little paranoid from the warning she received from her roommate and tried to patch up their relationship by forcing herself to do things Jeff likes to do (ex. play shuttlecock). However, things don't work out the way she wanted it to. Anna had enough with the relationship between Twinkle and Jeff. She gave him two options: marry her or fire Twinkle. Jeff was indecisive and they start to become distant from each other.

Jeff took a trip to the hospital from eating some overdue food. He immediately thought of Anna and called her. Anna forgave him after knowing that she is the one he thought of first when he's in trouble. After a few days, however, Jeff realized that he no longer loves Anna. He texted her a message, stating that he wanted to break up because she wasn't right for him. Rumors start to spread around the office. Twinkle is accused of being the third party of Anna and Jeff's relationship.

Yat Bo decided to confess to Twinkle, with the help of Mei Guen (Shermon Tang). However, every time he tried to confess, there's always something preventing him from confessing. Apparently, Mei Guen is only pretending to help him. She still likes Yat Bo and was determined to stop Yat Bo from confessing to Twinkle. Her parents even helped Mei Guen. Yat Bo's heart was broken after falling for Mei Guen's trap.

Although Twinkle is accused of being the third party, Jeff and Twinkle are still friends. It is revealed in episode ten that they both have each other's reading (from episode one: “Today, you will meet the most important person in your life.”). The two start developing weird feelings towards each other. From that point on, they start to avoid each other. However, they had to go to Germany to receive an award for their toy design. After being lectured by their boss for avoiding each other and not appreciating the company and their career, they decide to go together, regardless of the rumors.

Yat Bo realized Mei Guen was trying to prevent him from confessing. He decided to stop trusting Mei Guen and bought a laptop to e-mail Twinkle. Just as he was sending the e-mail, there was a blackout. He called Twinkle to confirm whether or not his e-mail was sent. Twinkle told him that she wasn't able read her e-mails as she cannot sign into her account. Yat Bo decided to wait until she returns to confess.

Twinkle and Jeff start dating after their experience in Germany together. They've been lost in the middle of a forest, their car broke down and it was snowing heavily outside. Jeff decided to go out to search for help and came back in time to save Twinkle from freezing to death. Twinkle is grateful and realized that she's in love with Jeff. At the same time, Yat Bo was running to Twinkle's house to confess, and saw them holding hands. He is heartbroken once again.

Twinkle finally can sign into her e-mail account. She is surprised to see the e-mail Yat Bo sent and told Jeff about it. Jeff wanted to pretend nothing happened, since Yat Bo thought his e-mail wasn't sent and that she couldn't access her account. After a few days, Twinkle figured it was wrong to pretend nothing has happened and wanted to break up (just to sort things out). Jeff, however, refused to and started to mistrust Twinkle. They experience more problems when Yat Bo injured his shoulder and Twinkle offered to help him with his work load.

While Twinkle was away to help Yat Bo, Jeff was having problems with his toy design for Christmas. Jeff designed a remote-controlled flying sleigh for Christmas. Frankie (Ruco Chan) declared that it was impossible to make it fly around, unless they changed the design. Angry, Jeff decided to hire someone who was capable of doing so. Jeff found Daniel, a mechanical engineer, but he backed out last minute. Jeff turned unreasonable and fired Twinkle when she returned to work.

Jeff continued to be unreasonable and childish until he hurt Yat Bo at a party. Yat Bo wanted things to go back to the way it was. He told them (Jeff and Twinkle) that he wanted to be friends again. However, he realized that things will never be the same because Jeff and Twinkle still have feelings for each other.

Twinkle decided to leave Hong Kong because she couldn't choose who she wanted to be with. Jeff and Yat Bo kept asking her dad, Wing Chung (Law Ho Kai), if he knew her whereabouts, but she didn't inform her dad where she is. After talking with Gam Gwai, Yat Bo predicted that she went to Disneyland. He goes over to find her. When he found her, he also spotted Jeff around looking for her. He selflessly took out his phone and dialed Twinkle's number. Since the three (Jeff, Twinkle and Yat Bo) have the same exclusive ring tone, Jeff was able to recognize that and to found her “first”. Twinkle believes that Jeff is the one she's fated to be with.

The main character we are first introduced to is Jeff Goon Sing Ho (Michael Tse), alongside supporting character Greeny Yip Seung Mau (Rams Cheung). Both are interested in the new coin-operated fortune telling machine installed at a mall. Jeff, a horoscope believer, inserts a coin into the machine and received his reading - “Today, you will meet the most important person in your life.” Greeny, claiming to be an expert in horoscope reading, leaves the scene telling Jeff that he is more accurate than the machine. The next character we are introduced to is Twinkle Kan Ngo Lam (Tavia Yeung). Like Jeff, she's a horoscope believer. She inserts a coin into the machine and got her reading too, the same reading Jeff received. Twinkle leaves, believing that the most important person of her life is Simon (Jack Wu), her boyfriend.

When Jeff returns to work, his colleague, Frankie Chung Gin Bong (Ruco Chan), demanded a blueprint of the new toy design so that he can start working on it. Jeff left the company to find his inspiration; Frankie angry with his carefree attitude.

The two main characters, Jeff and Twinkle, meet each other at a mall from having to amuse a group of kids. Twinkle, after seeing Jeff drop his toy robot, tells him that she knows a toy store that sells the missing robot from his collection. What she didn't tell him was that her dad was the owner of the toy store. Jeff leaves, thanking her.

Jeff meets fish seller, Chi Yat Bo (Steven Ma), Chi Gam Gwai (Lau Dan), and Chi Gam Kiu (Kingdom Yuen) at the supermarket playing shuttlecock. Jeff decides to join them after seeing how good Yat Bo was. Jeff attempts to do a kick flip. Yat Bo immediately tries to kick it after Jeff misses. Unfortunately, Yat Bo kicked the shuttlecock towards Nam Wing Chung (Law Ho Kai) and accidentally injures him. Jeff, thinking that Wing Chung wouldn't have anything against him since he's only a passerby, takes the blame. He excuses himself from the game, leaving Wing Chung angry. Jeff arrives at the toy store, almost had his hands on the toy robot, but the toy owner refuses to sell it to him. It turns out that Wing Chung is the toy owner and is still very angry about getting injured.

Twinkle finds out that her boyfriend Simon, who works at an insurance company, is two-timing. She finds Yat Bo and cries. Apparently, Simon “scammed” her money using their relationship and even got her to buy nine insurance coverages. Yat Bo and Jeff went to the insurance company, hoping that Simon's boss would fire him. Simon does get fired, and even lost his license. When Twinkle stole the toy robot from her dad's toy store, she encounters Simon, who's angry and chasing after her. She runs to Yat Bo for help. Yat Bo defends her when Simon insults her and furiously kicks Simon out of the market.
